Under the theme: Enzymes – Nothing works without them, represented André, CASCAT in a lecture series at the German Biotechnology Days 2019 at the 10th of April in Würzburg. Together with the companies C-Lecta (Marc Struhalla) and Novozyems (Klaus Pellengahr), as well as Prof. Dr. med. Jürgen Seibel (University of Würzburg) the experts presented and discussed the need and opportunities for the industrial establishment of novel enzyme reactions and cascades. Moderated by Andreas Löffert (Biocampus Straubing GmbH), this was an extremely exciting lecture series on the potential of enzymatic reaction cascades for industrial applications. It turned out that multi-stage enzyme cascades are gaining ground and gaining more and more profitability in order to replace established processes in the market, or even to establish new processes. Thus, we continue to be at the forefront of development with the philosophy of CASCAT.Continue Reading
During a conclave in Straubing, Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger visited the port of Straubing-Sand and our laboratories to see for himself the solutions to the challenges of climate change and a changing raw material base.
Together with MdL and chairman of the Budgets Committee in the state parliament, Josef Zellmeier and the other visitors, it was agreed that optimal conditions are necessary especially for companies in the region of renewable raw materials. Straubing’s Lord Mayor and ZVH Association Chairman Markus Pannermayr explained the planned expansion of the BioCubator with new laboratories and offices.
In the CASCAT labs we presented our approach of chemo-enzymatic reaction cascades for industrial process and were able to show the potential of our portfolio.
Minister of Economic Affairs Aiwanger summed up the visit as follows: “I think that an outstanding development of the Straubing research landscape is happening here and that a real lighthouse of the bioeconomy is emerging here”. We can only agree with this assessment and thank for the visit.
